October is Cyber Security Awareness Month

Think You're Alone?
Guess again. If you use your laptop and a wireless connection in a public place without taking basic safe computing precautions, you're anything but alone. You could be allowing someone else access to your computer, your identity, your personal information, your passwords, and more. Bottom line - You need to know the basics of safe computing.

October is National Cyber Security Month. In recognition, CIS will partner with multiple UNH groups and external speakers to present a focused series of programs and events. The theme of “Safe Computing Doesn’t Happen by Accident” will be the central point of discussion for the series, which will feature expert speaker presentations, a Safe Computing Fair in the MUB, a CIO Forum, a Safe Computing class, and distribution and display of educational materials.

Speakers will include, among others, Bud Fitch (NH Deputy Attorney General), Peter Lamonica (Forensic Computer Specialist, BeNetSafe.Org), Tracy Mitrano (Director of IT Policy, Cornell University), and Barbara Chung (US Education Division, Microsoft).

Check out our scheduled activities and learn how you can practice Safe Computing.
